Being in nature is one of life’s greatest pleasures. There is little, if anything, that gives us the same feeling of freedom and being alive. Nature holds plenty of challenges and experiences for all of us if we just take care of it. It is our joint responsibility.

Brynje of Norway is a small family business with a big goal – to deliver clothing that gives people the opportunity to experience nature, without it being at the expense of it. We were one of the first Norwegian producers to join Green Dot, and we recently were cited among the most environmentally friendly outdoor supplier of Future in Our Hands. We are proud of this.

To save the environment, we want all our products to have longevity. We offer repair of damaged goods and are actively working to improve the durability of our products. We are very happy when customers tell that they have benefited from their Brynje products for over 10 years. We work hard to ensure that the garment from Brynje will be as sustainable as possible and that animal welfare is safeguarded. It is important to us that our carbon footprint is as small as possible, so that we and everyone else can enjoy nature in the future.

Since 1887 we have been supplying products with a focus on quality, functionality and durability. Our innovation never stops, and we see it as our duty to continue our efforts in an environmentally sustainable way.

Wool and yarn

Wool and Yarn

Brynje exclusively uses wool from the world’s leading producer, Schoeller® from Austria. This yarn has the textile industry’s top environmental Bluesign designation, and is on the independent organization Oeko-Tex’s list of approved products. This is because the yarn does not contain any harmful substances. We only use wool produced without the use of chlorine (EXP), which makes production more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Animal welfare

Animal Welfare

Brynje of Norway is a company that has its origin in høykvalitetsull. For us it is very important that human needs do not go beyond animal welfare. When extracting a resource from animals, these animals are treated in a good way. We only use wool from sheep that are not subjected to mulesing or any other form of abuse. We see it as a given that the animals we extract our resources from should be treated with respect and dignity.

Additives and product composition

Additives and Product Composition

Historically, Brynje produced products in 100% wool, but with recent yarn developments we have made changes in our product mix. Today we supply woolen fabrics containing 20% polyester fiber. Weaving the polyester into the wool creates a stronger yarn, thus helping to increase the product’s durability and consequently its life expectancy. Our SUPERthermo, Arctic and Antarctic Series, and fleece products are manufactured with polypropylene (polycolon). Synthetic products have incredible longevity and is therefore a good alternative to buying new products every year.
